Fibers Sculpture

What Is Fibers Sculpture?

This is a fibers and installation project. Using a combination of Finger Knitting, pom-pom creation, and wireframe bases, we explore how we can create a dreamscape.

Prompt
For this fiber sculpture, we would like you to imagine that this sculpture is an immersive experience. If you were one inch tall, looking at this wire base as a space to inhabit, how would you create an experience that evokes the feeling of a ‘dream’?

Remember… Dreams are bizarre! They don’t have to make sense, so the colors and patterns you use in your sculpture don’t have to make a lot of sense.

Fibers Sculpture Inspiration
Materials needed:

We will be working on some techniques you can use in your fiber sculpture. These will be pom pom making and finger knitting, which then can be weaved into your base, which is made of a wire tomato cage, but can be expanded into various forms. Our main goal is to utilize yarn and various fiber materials to create a dynamic piece of art that combines all of these techniques.

SUPPLIES
- Yarn
- Scissors
- Armature
Learn the techniques!

Goals
- Curiosity and exploration! You have the freedom to experiment.
- Placing these fiber objects together also allows for exploration.
- Enjoy the fascination and eagerness in transforming the yarn objects.
- Enjoy your accomplishment in both individual creations & the creations put together.
- Apply your newfound knowledge to more!
