WHAT IS ANIMATION?
Animation is the method in which drawings or still figures are repeated and manipulated in order to appear as moving images. A "GIF" is a short style of animation that has become increasingly popular with today's advanced technology.

HISTORY OF ANIMATION
1906Humorous Phases of Funny Faces was the first animation using film- photography.
1919Felix the Cat becomes the first animated celebrity!

1908Fantasmagorie was considered the first animated cartoon.
1928Steamboat Willie was the first cartoon with sound printed on the film. This was a big success for Disney.

1926The Adventures of Prince Achmed was the oldest-surviving feature-length animated film using paper cut-out silhouette techniques. Created by German filmmaker Lotte Reiniger.

1985The beginning of Studio Ghibli, an animation studio which created some of the most inspired animated films of all time including Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle.
